The Circuit de la Sarthe is a semi-permanent race track and the venue for the annual 24 Hours of Le Mans auto race. With a length of 13,629 km the circuit is one of the longest in the world and a mix of closed public roads and parts of a permanent motor racing circuit, the Circuit Bugatti. It is a very fast track and during the historical 24 Hours race, up to 85 per cent of the time is spent on full throttle. The biggest challenge for the teams and drivers is to balance the cars’ speed and its ability to run 24 hours without sustaining mechanical damage.
